今日は、退位に際し、天皇陛下が
最後のおことばを述べられました。

譲位に関する専門用語が少しありますが、
わかりやすく、ビジネスなどの公式の挨拶にも
使える表現がたくさんありました。

＊男性なのでHisをつけます。
英国で、Her Majesty the Queen といえば、
エリザベス女王陛下を指します。
謁見の際、Your Majesty と呼びかけます。
「今日をもち，天皇としての務めを
終えることになりました。
ただ今，国民を代表して，安倍内閣総理大臣の
述べられた言葉に，深く謝意を表します。」

on behalf of the people of Japan.

I have performed my duties as the Emperor with a
deep sense of trust in and respect for the people,
and I consider myself most fortunate to have been able to do so.

＊ここで現在完了になっているのは、
今までずっとやってきてこれで終わるというニュアンス
になるため。

＊このto 不定詞も完了になっているのは、
上記と同じ理由で、これまでやってきて終わることを表す。

as the symbol of the State 国の象徴として
明日から始まる新しい令和の時代が，
平和で実り多くあることを，皇后と共に心から願い，
ここに我が国と世界の人々の安寧と幸せを祈ります。

that the Reiwa era, which begins tomorrow,
will be a stable and fruitful one, and I pray, with all my heart,
for peace and happiness for all the people in Japan and
around the world.”
